Being an effective leader means that you will have major impacts on not only the people you have employed but also the company as a whole.

Companies always work better as strong leaders because this leads them to be more productive, happier and better connected to their organisation that overall leads to the success of a business. According to Dana Brownlee, the founder of Professional Matters, “I think a great leader is one who makes those around them better. There are many litmus tests for a great leader, but I really look to those around them: Are they growing, becoming better leaders themselves, motivated, etc.?”

A prime example of one of the best J. Daniel Boomer - a man born with cerebral palsy and yet became one of the best mathematicians, computer scientists, educators, and futurists of our time.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University and then went on to serve the Oregon State Planning Advisory Council for People with Developmental Disabilities for several years.

Boomer also assisted the Dean of the Department of Education at the University of Colorado at Denver. They developed an information system for administrative decision-making, which improved teacher training programs and practices.

Furthermore, some of Boomer's other duties include co-directing a three year federal grant on self-determination at the University of Colorado at Denver on “Best Practices: A Study to Understand And Support Students Participating in Transition Planning.”

Moreover, Boomer accepted a position with the California Department of Education, within the Special Education Division as a full-time consultant to work on activities and offer educational leadership to the WorkAbility I project, which is a school to career program to assist in modelling special education in student's future.

He then collects and analyses follow-up data across the state of California a few years after graduation of students who availed their help to see their ideal progress later on in their lives.

Hence, here are some of the things we have learned through his examples, which we believe is essential for people in the professional industry to instil in their daily work practices.

Engaging in Open And Honest Communication

One of the main rules of being an effective leader is to create a line of communication with your team members. Having a good connection with the people you work with will make it easier to understand the people you are working with and you can show them that you care, making them more likely to approach you with improved understanding and commitment to working with you.

Maintain a Positive Aura

You will be surprised to find out how challenging it can be to be positive as a business owner. Despite day to day operations running smoothly, you will always find things going wrong somewhere within the business structure. A great leader is defined by their strength to stay strong and face their issues headstrong with a positive attitude which not only helps them to deal with problems but also serves as an inspiration for those working under them.
